START New Service with MLGW

Customers applying for utility service for the first time with Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division (MLGW) should complete and submit the Start New Service online application. By submitting this application, you are authorizing MLGW to perform a credit evaluation to determine if a deposit is required. If a deposit is required, a minimum of $200.00 will be billed. Customers may elect to have the deposit billed on their next utility bill or may elect to pay the deposit in eight payments of $25 beginning with the first billed month of service. The deposit wil be billed in addition to a connection fee of $45 on the first billing statement.

Once the connect has been completed, MLGW will mail a Residential Service Agreement. Please complete and comply with the identification requirements.

Effective April 1, 2013, if an appointment time is requested and the customer fails to meet the requested time, an additional trip charge of $19.00 will be assessed to the utility bill.

Note: New service requests are normally completed Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. (Excluding Holidays). If your new service request needs to be completed within 2 business days, please do not submit this application and call 901-820-7878.
